@tron #43: I don't get it. @tron #41: Would you rather Labour be back in power again? 43: ex-UKIP dude plane crashed after it took off. 41: Yeah. I'd much rather have Labour in power actually.

I'm 17, so I have yet to form a strong political opinion of my own. I have a few ideas, but I'll keep them to myself. Mostly. Mostly! I live in Milton Keynes South. 247 people near where I live wanted a Christian Peoples Alliance MP. 1,502 people near where I live wanted a BNP MP. In Milton Keynes North, 207 people wanted a Christian Peoples Alliance MP, but their representative there is called John Lennon so they're allowed. Matt Bananamatt Fensome from the Monster Raving Loony Party had 157 votes in MKN. However, the BNP representative there had 1,154 votes, which kinda sucks. (Conservatives won in both, btw, with Lib Dems in second.) At least MKN is more interesting than MKS! (Also, my school's in Hampshire East. Sadface for everybody here voting Conservative )

Were I a Brit, I would've voted LibDem on policies
Unfortunately that vote would have helped the Conservatives by taking votes away from Labour.
This is why you need preferential voting like we have.
Also the Monster Raving Loony Party is a wonderful institution and I love it.

Well if the Cons won't do a deal, this sets the stage for Clegg to try to get LibLab going.

Ironically enough, we'll only get preferential voting if the LibDems get in power, but they have less chance of getting into power due to the lack of preferential voting.

Well if the Cons won't do a deal, this sets the stage for Clegg to try to get LibLab going. It strikes me however that such a deal really undermines the situation. Firstly, a LibLab government would still be a minority government (still short of 326 seats), which is exactly what we're trying to avoid through forming a coalition. Furthermore, it'd be a minority government which doesn't always agree with itself, the whole thing would probably fall to pieces. For Labour to secure any kind of overall majority coalition government, they'd basically have to band together with just about every other political party that got a seat (many of which have conflicting ideologies, or simply don't care about the UK as a whole), giving away a particularly large chunk of their power and ability to serve the people in the way they best see fit in the process. I think by this time next year we'll be having another general election anyway, and whichever of the main parties get in now by forming a coalition or governing as a minority, will probably suffer the most for it then (in the case that another election actually needs to be called, at least).

Anyone else notice that Nick Clegg did an interview this morning in the middle of a giant chicken fight? He was standing doing the interview and I noticed his hair was messy and his collar all scraggly. Then the camera moved to the right a bit and I saw that there was someone in a giant yellow chicken costume standing next to him.
