I dunno if this has been done already, but I had an idea. With the username/display name you have now. How did you come up with it? ("Just random" is also a valid answer ) For example, Adramelech was the name of my band (Reaper At Play)'s first song XD

My name is Trishant, so abouts 5 to 6 years ago I stuck "Tr" in front of "onic" from Sonic. That became Tronic. I'd add a bit as a second name, just for kicks, "Speedsta". Of course I really didn't care much about the Speedsta bit it was just... You know, something to put in the "Second Name" section of a web signup form. So the whole thing (as is my Messenger address) was a bit of a long one. People called my Tronic. Some still do sometimes, actually. (I'm looking at Cheesy, Fiery, Shard, Breaker, and maybe a couple others.) After that, it was further shortened by myself and board members to Tron. Some newer members believed that it was inspired by the 80s Disney movie "Tron". It wasn't really. The movie is awesome anyway. As I made newer updates to my sprite designs, and my sprites got a lot better in both style and implementation, I thought I should go for a new name. I kept the "Tron" aspect in mind. The name that came on it was Zaelotronius. I was studying Latin at the time, I now remember. Just thought I'd make it sound nifty and wacky. That whole thing was a bit long anyway, and was for fun. I changed my displayed name to several things for the hell of it, like EX Gold Kakusei Kim Dong Tron and other derivatives inspired by fighting games and Zae | Lo | Tron | Ic | Ius. The first bit stuck really. Went with Zae. .. I think it was after a bit that I decidedly took my break from SV, and several aspects of the internet. I stayed active on the RXA because... It's got the greatest userbase evar. Well, maybe So I was known as Zae there, and as it happened, I went to a Paul Gilbert gig in London, June of '07. That was when I met a load of the guys at RXA who lived in the UK (And actually a guy from Poland and one from Australia, too). It was actually quite nice meeting them and we are on first name terms. From that point i didn't mind people really using my first name much. Incidentally, I met Lightnix that day too, who... conveniently lined up right behind me outside the venue. We talked a little. I got scared for no reason (I think I tried to start conversation with "Those are nice boots" or something... jeez) and I needlessly crap my pants (metaphorically) and we stopped talking I came back to SV some time around then or thereafter... Maybe. I spent some time on IRC. People still called me Zae or Tron. As for my current usernames used out and about on the net, I had noticed I liked Paul Gilbert, and I also like Guilty Gear. So I made the username "PGdudeGG". I'm often found as "PGdude" too. So... that's how it rolls. Sometimes I still use Zae on new things (like 2DF), but it's all coo'. Edit: Did I really type for that long? Something must be wrong.

Well, I have a crapload of usernames. I currently mostly go by Kartoffelkopf, (which, as most of you know, means 'Potatohead') or Avnas Ishtaroth, a name Jeno gave me (Avnas + Ishtar + Astaroth, although there's a bit more story behind it. Another name for the demon Avnas corresponds to my real name, and my second initial is I [most demon names starting with M, my last initial, suck eggs] so that's that really. Now you probably know why my MSN display name is <AI>, it's also an obvious pun on Artificial Intelligence, and the names of the rogue AI in MGS2, although I doubt any presidents were called AI) I also go by 'Etheor' on occasion, which I came up with just by mashing random keys until I got something that looked good.
As for this one, Doomsday, well back in the day I went by shadowfax272, spawned from my then-love of Shadow the Hedgehog and Lord of the Rings (the 272 came from a randomly generated suggestion from Neopets, which was the first place I used the name, and became my lucky number for some time) and I was sitting in school one day when I thought 'that's a crappy name, I need something shorter and snappier' so I was just brainstorming and came up with this somehow. That's about it really.
Oh I also have a ninjaton of other aliases, most unused. I went by _TailsDoll_ for a period and still do on GameFAQs. I have the most retarded Wikipedia name which is retarded.
I also go by »Propaganda Minister« on 4chan, 7chan and a few small forums, when I'm not Kartoffelkopf. I have no idea why anymore.
And that's the story of my vast amount of names.

"Spy_Knux" was the first alias I adopted from a hoax I made over four years ago. I used this name for a little while and I decided that the name and sprite were original enough, so I adopted " Apocalypse". Totally more original. Anyway, this did change the fact that I was a complete utter tool. So, after being hated on and facing my own self-loathing, I decided to secretly change my alias to a more original name that I wouldn't think anyone else would have. At the time, I was fan of the Yu-Gi-Oh! card game, and so I took my name from one of my favorite cards. At the same time, I knew the name could be used from all kinds of sources: ice breaker, circuit breaker, breaker reefs, etc. So, I had a name that, despite actually coming from a crappy source, had a lot of versatility. Anywho, time came when I mentioned that Breaker and Apocalypse were the same person and so LOL DRAMA. So, I kept the Breaker alias and just learned to adapt to the SVMB. Interestingly enough, when my birthday rolls around, someone always remembers to mention that it is both Breaker and Apocalypse's birthday. XP

For my actual username "tails8762": At the time of thinking up the name (which was o-iunno, September 2005) Tails was my favourite character and 8762.. I've no clue. For the old screenname "Neotails8762": (I stopped using it October 2006 on SV, though I still use it on YouTube and SkullTag) I simply wanted something a little more *ahem* "original" so I stuck Neo- on the end. For my current(sortof) screenname "Neo '2.3' Hylan-May": During my time as "Neotails8762", my authorcharacter was a Tails recolour who went under a few revisions over that past few years. Over time, my spriting skill improved and so after my first year at SV I kinda decided "you know what, representing yourself as a recolour isn't good when spriting let's upgrade yo" and began working on some new designs. Everyone ended up referring to me as "Neo" so that ended up being a good first name. As for "Hylan", with me being part Scottish, I chose something.. in a way, stereotypically down that route. First thing that came into my head was the movie Highlander which I used to watch as a kid, so I nabbed the first two syllables and changed the spelling. For the "2.3", the sprite for Neo Hylan-May was going under several revisions, although "2.3" was originally taking the piss out of the film "The Number 23", though when I actually ended up spriting v2.3 a few months later, it kinda lost its original meaning. It's currently at v2.6 but I can't be arsed in changing my online name for yet another time. (That and "2.3" has also been worked into my character's backstory so there's another reason as well) As for the "-May" part... I won't explain due to possible wtf-ery.* Though as a nice coincidence, my birthday just so happens to be in May, so let's go with that. Other names I've used/am using are: "28% Will Do Fine" (July 2005 - September 2005, OCReMix) (apparently scored 28% on a goth test on the internets and thought "pfft ok") "Not a Number" (July 2007 - now, TIMGUL (current music project)) (taken from a phrase in the old TV show "The Prisoner") *In short, I've written a whole backstory based around all my characters, Neotails8762 included (or just "#8762" now for the sake of originality), and one section involved my character changing his name from "Hylan" "Hylan-May" due to.... circumstances.

Post by D00D64: AM I GONE OR WHAT on May 6, 2009 2:33:31 GMT 10
My name was originally BigD00D64. At the time, I used leetspeak alot because I was a COMPLETE AND UTTER N00B. But it eventually just kinda stuck. I am just some dude... TO THE 64TH POWER. Also, yeah, I was huge at the time. REALLY fat. Still kinda chubby now, but not like before... Ew... So then I changed it to simply D00D64, partly because of the aforementioned weightloss, and also due to it being more simple of a name. Also, if it wasn't obvious to stupid people, the 64 is, of course, from my favorite console, the N64.

When I first got into the whole SV scene, I was also into Pearls Before Swine, a newspaper comic. One of the main characters, Rat, would every so often write a story about a character named Angry Bob, who was always angry, and would always try to do something to make himself happy. Unfortunately, the universe would always seem to align in order to kill Bob in the worst, most ironic way possible. I found this really funny, so I took the name "Angry Bob" and made an anagram of it, making "Roby Bang" (which explains the messed up spelling of Robby). At one point, I shortened it to RB, then created a bunch of backronyms for it based on whatever I felt like doing one on (I just finished a "Perspectives on War in Media" class in college, so some of my recent ones are based on Dr. Strangelove and the Bill Mauldin WWII cartoons).

It all started back in the late 90's/early noughties when I was a big fan of Sailor Moon (this was also during my 'otaku phase', a dark and lonely place I never wish to return to).
I wanted to create a fan character, a self insert. He was Sailor Sun, and a big mary sue. He was the son of Sailor Venus and Malachite (following the manga storyline, even though I didn't read the manga) and also trained with Sailor Mars and her son (who I never got around to creating), so he was a master at both fire and love magic. He would inevitably turn into an angel and save humanity.
*shoots himself*
Anyways, he was a crappy design, wearing simply a shirt and trousers with a bandanna and a hairstyle to rival Paul Phoenix's. I only used Sailor Sun ONCE as an internet moniker, and that was on the Fox Kids website.
At the time, there was one Sailor Moon fan character to rule them all; Sailor Orion. She had a complete fanfic (26 chapters or so), and the fanfic itself was being made into a fanmovie. I was going to voice the monsters in it (the Jaki who craved "human juice"), but unfortunately the whole thing fell flat on it's face soon after I got the part.
Anyways, Sailor Orion had a forum RPG. I wanted to join it, but there was already a Sailor Sun, so I renamed myself Sailor Taurus. I never got in, as you needed an online profile of the character (and linking from your C:// didn't work as I soon discovered), but the name stayed.
Ever since then Sailor Taurus has been my online moniker, and anything related to him. Variations i've used (ignoring closed spaces and underscores) include:
-Sailor Taurus -Senshi Taurus -Sailor Senshi Taurus -Senshi Sailor Taurus -Bishounen Senshi Sailor Taurus (Ezboard IIRC) -Bishounen Senshi Taurus -Bishounen Sailor Taurus -and finally, Bishounen Taurus
The last one is the one i've used here since the beginning. As such, people have become used to shortening it to either Bishy or BishyT, but mostly the former. I'm also ok with people referring to me by my first name (Nathan).
HOWEVER...recently an artist I like on devart held a sailor scout design competition, where everyone had to submit their designs for each of the zodiacs, the winners for each one getting drawn by the artist. I wanted to enter, but they had to be female (to follow continuity), so I decided to genderbend my character for the competition.
I never got around to entering it (artists block), but I came up with a lot of good ideas for the more accurate female version of Sailor Taurus. As such, i've been considering dropping the Sailor Taurus moniker (having the newly genderbended version just as an OC or something) and adopting a new-ish identity (like, design a new and original character and name him just "Taurus").

Right, in more detail go: NeoPixel: Completely random. No idea what I was on when I made this seizuretastic char. Scyphen: Name came from a combo of science (he's a scientist) and hyphen (srsly wtf). Had a Neutral Swim Chao on SA2:B called Splish. He looked pretty damn awesome, so I thought 'why not'. Interrobang Pie: Public comic on my now spambotted forum. If anyone really wants to the the utter crapbomb, click. Also varies to 'Interrogangbang Pie', especially over Xbox Live. All my 'friends' are wankers. The Coolio Dood: A friend started saying 'coolio', and I sort of adopted it. I wasn't influenced by D00D64, no matter what you say. On-Toasted Cheese: My channel on Youtube which I used to escape from those wankers mentioned earlier. They eventually found it though. Whoop-de-doo. And that is my life story.
