Small complaint: if Crystal had the Mareep family, I wouldn't be having as much trouble planning a team as I'm having now. Actually, I know of five Pokémon I'd like to keep, but I lack either an electric type to cover a few weaknesses or something with awesome stats that can use Earthquake to cover a few OTHER weaknesses.

Is Electric type that necessary? It's only strong against water and flying, and those can be handled by grass and rock types. It is resistant to steel attacks, but there's hardly any of those, and by the time you face Jasmine you'll probably have a decent fire- or fighting-type anyway.
