Just because someone else has already done the basic idea isn't a good excuse to just go "well, whattayagonnado?". A good measure of skill is being able to take an existing idea and add an original twist to it.

Yeah, obviously your ideas aren't very original if they have been thought of already. Like that time when you discovered Lolo and thought a Kirby character ripped off of your idea.

A good measure of skill is being able to take an existing idea and add an original twist to it. Eh... good point, but at the same time, I truly want something "Never-Before-Done" in our game. I can deal with the other ideas, but Bluwave I want to be a truly original experience. There is one idea I had... It's been done before, just not in a platformer, at least I don't think it has. I'm tinkering around with how the mechanics might work, and pretending to play the game with my Wii-Mote & Nunchuk. But for now, I’m keeping what it is a secret. One issue that I really want to deal with is "Fake" abilities. For example, Blaze from Sonic Rush: when you think about it, she really isn't pyrokinetic. Perhaps the hovering might be plausible, but it isn’t pyrokinesis. It’s just a few random abilities with fire thrown into the mix. I want to make sure under NO circumstances, Bluwave has any “fake” abilities that just look like hydrokinesis. |

Actually, Blaze is immune to the fire in Sky Babylon.
And keep in mind that coming up with something completely original is going to be very difficult.
