Our hopes are that we actually debunk Zelda Ocarina of Time as the highest critically acclaimed video game of all time. Try finishing a game first, then we'll talk serious. As I see it, there is such a thing as planning too far ahead. Most game development teams will say, "Okay, we'll aim to get this game finished in two years, and then see how we go from there," not "OMFG WE'LL PWN ZELDA IN 8 YEARS OLOL" I have already said this, but baby steps, PK.

And like I'VE been saying... It's a long term project. "PWNING ZELDA" will most likely take far more than 8 years... considering it basically took that long to make the freaking game... and it was 8 years well spent may I add. I still play Majora's Mask to this day, and my having recently downloaded Ocarina of Time pretty much makes me not need Christmas this year.
To finish what I was saying in my earlier post: The levels will be made in a very Zelda like fashion (as in the going back and forth and getting lost, but not so much the dungeon part) but with the gameplay being moreso like a platformer. How this will work out without it being too complicated... I haven't got a clue, but that's part of the whole process of making games.
The controls, again as mentioned earlier, will be like NiGHTS' transformations. There will be five different fighting styles for both Bluwave and Cosmo. Some of the ideas we've made for Bluwave's abilities includes:
an Ice Chain- Has three main functions: Works like the grappling hook like in Windwaker, allowing Bluwave to swing across far distances. He can also use it to climb up certain walls or trees. And to top it off, it works similarly to Sonic's homing attack- He tosses it at his enemy, and swings around or over it, slicing it with his Ice Sword as he passes by. Then he lets go, and flings himself upward.
A set of Heavy Weaponry: This is one of the more varied fighting styles. The weapons include a massive Ice Hammer (Or possibly a massive snowball), Dry Ice bombs
A set of Technical Weaponry: Includes Bottle Rockets, A frozen Ice Disc that bounces off of walls, and small Ice Daggers that double as claws that allow Bluwave to climb up soily or soft walls.
And (as strange as this one sounds) Bubbles: Their purpose is simple- reflect attacks by using them as a bouncy shield, or fill one up, and fly upward
And it seems I am almost out of time. And as important as this topic is... There is one more thing I need to do here...

Maybe you can get some ideas from Zelda II?
Also, I suggest you make a way to combine equipment for other uses. For example, an item that allows Bluewav to attach certain things to his legs, like equipping the Ice Daggers so he can use them as a type of Iron Boots for soft sea floors with unstable currents, and allowing him to use these with the Ice Hook to rake in heavier enemies and objects (Assuming he can tug things with the Ice Hook, even though the grappling hook in WW just jacked peoples stuff).
Just an idea.

I'm not saying anything until I see some tangible evidence that you've got the ability to pull off even a tiny little Gamemaker game that doesn't suck.
Anyone can write nice stories and come up with game ideas.

I come in halfway through and totally assasinate the conversation. I wouldn't recommend making a character that lives underwater, after we've seen what hell America had done to it. Make something original, then make the game so it's original. K? K.

...? I never once said Bluwave lives underwater. As far as I'm concerned he lives under a bridge with a pack of wolves. He's hydrokinetic, meaning he can manipulate water. And granted, the concept is fairly common, but not so much in video games (Video games based off of comics, cartoons, etc. don't count). Plus, we aren't aiming for a Spongebob-y game or story or feel or whatever. So you dont' have to worry about that.
@d00d, I like the idea of the dagger-boot-type-things, but I don't want the game to be TOO similar to Zelda. And as for the chain-yanking, I as well thought of that idea, but... well......um...<<... crap. I just forgot what I was going to say... ^^;
@shard, I'll be honest with you. Right here and now, If I were to start on a game, the outcome at best would be something that would suck just as much as the BloopBloop series did. My programming skills are next to nothing at this point at time. I'm working moreso towards art, music, story, graphics, research, and originality at the time. SoustekD is working more on the mathmatic crap since I suck at math (Well, I don't suck, but, I'm not programmer material). To even start on Bluwave's engine or programming now would be the equivelent of... well... (This is going to break my heart saying this, but...) deciding to put Silver in Sonic 06- the very element that pretty much promised the ruining of the game. If anything, we're going to start on a small scale either WiiWare/XBLA game or a DS game... which we're STILL having a hard time making decisions on.
And it seems I am AGAIN out of time...

Wait...in comparison to starting the game now, you consider WiiWare/XBLA/DS SMALL SCALE?

Well... basically. Megaman 9 ran on an engine that's actually compatable with the NES, amirite? And I know where to find access to homebrew NES game making tools (NOT Rom hacking tools) so... I'd imagine it would be small enough.

Wouldn't trying to code for a limited console be HARDER then using modern day coding, due to the limitations and such? Modern day code is much cleaner and easier to understand, and you're less likely to come across glitches.
Also, IIRC, Megaman 9 ran on a modern day engine with coding made to EMULATE glitches from the old NES games. It's not actually compatible with the NES, it's just made to look that way.

Oh for fu- I'm rather sick of people making this mistake. Hydrokinesis, literally, is the ability to exert force on water.
Everyone and everything can do this.
Telekinesis still fits its definition because it literally means the ability to exert force at a distance.
The term you are searching for is hydromancy, the magic control over water.

Well... I did not know that. Thank you for pointing that out Cheesy.
...And yet another reason not to trust Wikipedia... <<
@bish: Well, that's true, and I never took that into account with the coding being harder and such. Eh, live and learn. (No sonic references intended)
