www.ryangarns.com/archives/article_102508.phpHow do you guys like the sound of "Pagan Day" or "Gee-I-Wish-I-Could-Celebrate-Christmas-But-Instead-I'm-A-Godless-Heathen Day"? Instead of singing christmas carols we could go around reading passages from Charles Darwin or Richard Dawkins. Or, you know... So sad.

Frankly I'd prefer if it were renamed to something more generic. As it is it's got too Christian a name for a celebration that has precious little to do with the religion, at least as far as those of us outside of it are concerned.

Anyways, funny article, and when examined is actually an interesting take on Prop 8.

CHEESY ENTERS TRIVIA MODE Xmas is not actually an attempt to take the "Christ" out of "Christmas". X is the first letter of the greek word for "Christ", Xristos.
oh btw guys, quote from the author:

It's pronounced 'Christos' and is spelled ' Cristos'. EDIT: Unfortunately my old fundie self was a victim of that particular myth. My grandmother insisted that I never ever spell 'Xmas', and I raged whenever I saw it on shop signs etc. but hey, that's off topic

I thought it was blatantly obvious it was a joke from the get go. Obviously a peice of satire inspired by the Prop 8 movement (I mean, come on, "gays banning straights from broadway musicals"*).
