I sang the Vegemite jingle to my friend today. I still know all the words.
Unsure whether to be ashamed or very ashamed.
Oh yeah and hi again everyone
not quite sure why i'm here though, i am still not very much of a gamer at all...

I have not been 'into' video games for over a year. Frankly I've turned into one of those nasty 'casual' gamer types (come at me, forum ).

I'm #3 pet trainer on my WoW server, striking for #2 soon. ultimate aim is to get within the top 500 for english eu servers (i am #708 right now). i'm #1 horde and i'm the only person in the top 100 realm who isn't in a raiding guild.
this is the closest i've ever been to actually taking a game seriously
i also have minecraft but i only play it on creative. i have warcraft 3 but i got stuck on the defense of andorhal 2 years ago and never played it again.
mostly i play solitaire while waiting for my revive pets cooldown

Yeah, they really are. Generations in particular was the first one in particular I was inspired to go back and get all the unlockables for since SA2.
Also: there are battle-scarred Batarians, lacking in humility.

... I've been slowly making my way through Demon's Souls.
And also Pokémon White 2.

Last games I played with any real meaning were probably Rayman Origins and Sonic Generations.
I've mainly been watching Doctor Who of late.

If anyone visits this place and hasn't played Sonic Generations, there is clearly something wrong and troubling in their life.

See, I would, but.. I guess I'm tired of 2(.5)D Sonic after 2(.5)D Sonic. I suppose part of the reason why I liked 06 was because the levels had much bigger playing fields; you weren't confined to just two dimensions of movement (OK sure, they had that on-rails thing, but they had that in Secret Rings and... I kinda want to forget that game. Granted, that had the Wii tilt controls, but still). (and probably partly to piss off everyone who hated it - I mean, it had potential.. but was just poorly executed) When I saw the gameplay trailer for Generations.. it just didn't click with me. It just seemed like "yet another Sonic 1" (but that's just me). I dunno. I partly put the blame on Unleashed (a game which I still to this day refuse to play) and Project Needlemouse (a game that I already made my thoughts clear on during my little "vacation". Looking back at it two years on, I still stand by what I said), and it was because of Sonic Adventure 2: Battle that I got back into Sonic nearly half my life ago. I hate to say it, but 1991 was a long time ago (well, 1993 for me, since I got my MegaDrive when I was 4).
But that's just me. You wanna play it, I ain't stopping you.

Unleashed's day stages had the right idea, which has been incorporated into the newer ones, the night stages were awful and the reason I never finished it. I never played 4 either since it looked like shameless pandering. I think you'll enjoy Colours at least, if you don't want to play Generations. The powers you can use are really cool. Also with Generations, classic Sonic plays like the original games, using the spindash and on a 2D plane, whereas modern Sonic plays like Unleashed and Colours, switching between 2.5D and 3D on occasion. I personally think the 2.5D-3D style goes really well together and it makes you think on the spot. They've really put in some effort to make it go against the "press right/forward to win" criticism.

I really enjoyed Generations, actually, if only from my nasty casual gaming point of view. For instance, I think the level design in Generations (at least in the classic levels) is very clever. It rewards skill (by providing powerups and the like if you can do the precision platforming bits), while at the same time not outright punishing those who are less good at the game.
