My roommate said you guys used to be a site that bustled with activity and a good conversation once in a while, even if she lost interest.
I showed her what happened to you guys and she's...Actually rather shocked.
What happened?

Nothing happens on here anymore, there's nothing to draw anyone into the site. Those of us who want to keep in contact with one another can through more convenient means than this forum. I mean, as you said, your roommate lost interest so doesn't it stand to reason that everybody else kind of did too?

I don't get it either. I lurk every day, seldom post, and only talk with one or two of you (in sparse conversations).
Why the hell am I still here?

I rarely talk to any of you out of SV. Actually, I rarely talk to any of you inside SV. I suppose I'm just here for old time's sake.

What killed this place, anyway? Was it because the Sonic series went in the crapper? (Which...Yeah. It kinda did.)

We weren't really into Sonic that much in the first place. But it's because of that that we haven't been getting any new people. The oldbies are moving on to other things.

Not really. If anything, the real lack of activity has been since Colours came out, and that one was much better than the other games.
My own increasing need to focus on the inconveniences of real earth-human life has had a lot to do with it, too.
That's why I'm absolutely certain now that I would need other contributors to SV the site to keep it worth people's while visiting SV the Message Board.

You know, I think if I tried a little, I could fill your WCMO quota for a year.

Also what with the site being down for a year we haven't had many people coming in.

I'd say one reason is the one thing we have that other Sonic sites don't, hoaxing, is dead. Sonic beta ROMs have already been dissected to the point that the word "hoax" doesn't make sense, so no one actually believes there's a "OMG SECRET LEVEL LULZ." Also, the rise of sprite comics delivered the death knell.
Sprite comics are easier to make and publish, and with better tools like Paint.net and GIMP, the results look more interesting than fake screengrabs. At least, that's my take on it.

What if SV became a cookery website?

We could say "SV" stands for "Sumptuous Vittles."
