This. This E3 was just weak. Most of the games were sequels, Microsoft was trying to convince people that the Kinect was a good idea with the zeal and effectiveness of a conspiracy theorist trying to convince people that the Holocaust didn't happen. The WiiU was maybe the only halfway decent thing shown, but it's hardly revolutionary. Even more disappointing, the WiiU will only support one WiiU controller per console, which is really disappointing, since the idea of dual screen console play has a lot of potential.

Oh lol that's right, I forgot that console peeps are stuck on the same old hardware that predates 2005.
Aaaah.
Jesus get a grip, just because E3 was "WEAK" doesn't mean you can't discuss it decently in a thread. Piss off with all you're retarded connotations and just discuss E3 for what it was. E3 is ALWAYS weak because you never see what you expect or want. I'm mad that there wasn't more BF3 footage, but not as mad as the Battlefield hardnuts that want a sacrificial goat for each game copy as well.
I LIKE: BF3 teabagging MW3 with new info and footage 3D demos New Lara Croft looked good
I DON'T LIKE Lack of BF3 info The BLARGH was that Kinect KIPPERS? Vita has little market, just like the PSP (in comparison to say... the rather successful DS/Lite) and it's priced dumb, and controls wher eyou touch KIPPERS and it all happens WiiU show used PC/360/PS3 footage, was a confusing clusterBLARGH because I couldn't tell if it was a new console or a controller and then we find that it's one cool-controller (that's what I will call it) per console THEY BETTER FIX THAT IF THEY WANT A DECENT REASON TO HAVE THOSE AT ALL So many dull games... Nintendo showcasing same old same old
Indifferent (for now) Assassin's Creed Revelations, I've yet to complete Brotherhood. I should prolly fix my PS3 and get it on that instead. Everything else.
Portable gaming is getting a bit too advanced to be portable, I don't game on the move and I don't see where they're going with this.

I think the problem with the PSVita is that it has too much competition at the upper end of performance from smart phones, it's very powerful now, but its sales will stall when people start seeing prettier graphics in cheaper games available for future iPhone and Android devices. I mean really a touch panel on the back isn't really going to give it the edge in games it really needs to succeed.
The 3DS doesn't really have that problem because it's marketed to parents as a gaming device for children, the same parents who probably have some hang ups about letting their children have their own phone which potentially allows those children to do things the parents don't really want them to be doing (e.g. looking at porn or spuriously buying apps). Whereas the PSVita will almost certainly be targeted at people who are thinking 'okay I already have a smart phone with some pretty fun games, do I really need this product? Do I really need a touchpad on the back? Do the shinier graphics really mean that much to me when it's on a screen this small? Do I really want to be paying £40 for each game when Angry Birds was free and entertains me just fine?'

Another problem with the PSVita is the same problem that's always existed for handhelds. The handheld market has always been more about portability, battery life, and games that can be played for a few minutes on the bus and put away just as easily. We've always had the tech to make handhelds with great graphics and hardcore games since Atari was a gaming giant. But all these consoles ate batteries and weren't portable at all. But targeting hardcore gamers for the handheld market rarely works.

That's exactly it. I mean with the DS Lite I could just shut it and then re-open it later without much issue, but the PSVita with its Quad Core and probable nvidia Tegra 2 graphics cores and whatever the hell else, and that STYLE of gameplay, I'd rather just sit at home and play those kinds of games for leisure AT HOME.
That's how I feel, I'm not into gaming on the go. If I'm "on the go" I usually have a purpose to go and not just "time to kill" on the go.

Disliked: .Wii-U .Fable: The Journey (FPS BLARARARAGH.) .Anything Kinect related. (95% of Microsoft's presentation.) .MW3
Not Sure: .PSVita .Halo 4 (The trailer tore Halo 3's continuity to shreds.)

Handheld gaming is about quick play - either short levels or easily pausible long ones (see Advance Wars/Fire Emblem/Ghost Recon 3DS). What's the point of being immersed in the game world if you're just going to be rudely jarred out of it the minute someone wants the seat between you and the window? Oh and also wow I guess Halo 3's sequel-hook ending caught a sequel who'd've thunk?

Oh and also wow I guess Halo 3's sequel-hook ending caught a sequel who'd've thunk? That, and in the couple of months that Master chief was frozen in a small machine, he got a new set of armor WITHOUT exiting Cryogenic status. Oh 343 Studios, you continuity breaking bastards.

I dunno, that armour in Halo looks pretty damn modular, I wouldn't be surprised if the ship could modify it on his body by taking parts of and putting bits on. I mean the science looks crazy.

Hopefully, the new Halo trilogy doesn't feature a token alien character that no one likes and is possibly a racial stereotype, a stupid cute kid who only exists to appeal to a demographic and sell toys, and a convoluted storyline full of plot holes to explain character motivation for a character that didn't need any in the first place.

Don't be absurd, surely no-one would be so stupid as to ruin an iconic franchise in such a matter! Why, next you'll be saying the re-release of the original will feature the director's whim making sweeping changes to pivotal moments in plotline and characterisation that will alienate fans of the original!

They could always focus on a different Spartan and not John-117. =/
I mean, Jun was still alive at the end of Reach, and I'm pretty sure there are other Spartans out there. Maybe the new trilogy will focus on the EU novels and let you play through some of the more important ones (like Contact Harvest). I mean, come on, who DOESN'T want to play as Staff Sergeant Avery Johnson?
