Yeah, I heard about this from my sister when they closed a few streets in NYC to film it. Apparently the plot is literally "THE SMURFS WAKE UP IN MANHATTAN."
This is stupid.

It was inevitable. Also, all of these fish-out-of-water 'character from X franchise/time period finds self in real world' films take place in Manhattan. Find somewhere different. Like Copenhagen.

Looney Toons: Back in Action Who Framed Roger Rabbit Space Jam None of those take place in Manhattan. What are you talking about?

Also from what I remember of Rocky & Bullwinkle, that took place on a road somewhere.
Oh and for this Smurf film there will no-doubt be some black-haired new-yorker guy with a beard and a child that will help the smurfs get home

Neither Back in Action or Roger Rabbit were "fish-out-of-water" films. They were both "the cartoon world and reality are the same and this is perfectly normal" films. Also, 90% of Space Jam took place in the cartoon world, and if anything Michael Jordan was the fish out of water. So, yeah, none of those films count.

Eh, well the Smurfs themselves look okay. The rest of it is forgettable.
Who am I kidding, this is going to suck. Now where's the bleach.

To be fair, Smurfs already sucked as it was. But, hey, just wait until the live-action adaptation of The Jetsons.
