Ok, I want to make a raycasted game.
But I don't want it to be like Wolfenstein. I want it to be more like Doom 2 or Sonic Robo Blast (as in, the ability to make levels more complex than narrow corridors).
I looked into MMF2, but it's expensive and also the raycast object (which you have to pay for) only does simple Wolfenstein type rooms.
So, any suggestions?

MMF2 isn't that expensive, unless I've missed something. It's been a good six months since I used it.
If you have the knowledge of WADs and whatnot - and I'm assuming that if you haven't said this already, you haven't - the Doom 2 engine is open-sourced these days.
Does it have to be raycasted? My only other suggestion would be the Blender Game Engine, but that uses polygonal 3D. The raycast look can be simulated fairly easy in it by turning off shading and keeping a fixed camera angle.

Thanks to this thread I spent a good three hours looking up how raycasting worked and the maths behind it. Also sorry, no, I don't really know exactly of a tool you're looking for. Although on my uh, google travels I did stumble across a tool called the ' raycasting game maker', I've not tried, or looked at any screenshots of it, or have even tried anything produced by it, but it might maybe potentially be the sort of thing you're looking for.

Unfortunately that only does simple Wolfenstein-esque levels.

www.doombuilder.com/I know it's basically a DooM 2 level creator but it is an easily-moddable game from what I hear.
