Oh for God's sake. The government's going to restrict our web content now? I can see that being really, really popular. It's the record labels being tossers again. Blocking sites as such isn't going to deter serious pirates - who will find a shortcut - and it's only going to make things worse for honest individuals when, quote the article, "Google and Youtube could be shut down", or at the very least have their content massacred. In the worst-case scenario that they go utterly overboard with this - which is plausible knowing the government - even sites such as this very one could be blocked as, for example, hoaxes are technically a breach of copyright, fan art or not.
I plan to sign the petition when it re-opens, even though I buy all my media above board.

I'm probably in the clear with this as my ISP (TalkTalk) has been quite vocal about its opposition to the bill. Still, I think it's an utter disgrace that the bill went through despite only a tiny fraction of those who supposedly represent us turning up to debate the matter. On the other hand I have absolutely no right to complain as I should have at the very least written to my MP about it...

...Ye gods. What an incredibly dangerous piece of legislation.
What concerns me the most is that apparently, were it not for the Lords of all people, further legislation would've been introduced that would have allowed them to modify online copyright law at will without having to pass it through Parliament. So basically, it would've given the music industry or whichever MP is in their pocket the power to literally write their own rules.
All in the service of greed and overpriced music. *shudder*

Turns out my ISP, Sky, is right in the government's pocket on this one, and I'm locked into a contract. ninja this. I'm moving to Canada.

That's... A little terrifying, I should probably keep up with governmental stuff a bit more often >.> But damn. Makes me have to consider who to connect with come July, moving into a house.
