I decided to do another game. Albeit a lot less complex. So you guys know all about Battleship (If ya don't, Wiki it). But if someone tries to come up with an idea to play Battleship via Message Board, wouldn't it be plain and dull?
Introducing Forum Battleship. It's like Battleship, but with more different ships, and more players! And maybe even as dull!
You will join a team. Be it the Golden Lions or the Green Clovers. Each member will be assigned to a ship, which they will command and fire from it. There are 3 classes of ships, and each team has 6 players. That means 2 players per ship class.
The classes are the following:
Transporters – They can move on the map.
Firepower – 1 shot/day. Ship Length – Small (2 blocks)
A modified ship capable of swimming at high speeds. On every turn, they can decide either shooting or moving to spaces on the map. Their small size also provides an advantage when hiding in the Battlefield. Sadly, to maintain high speed while moving, they had to remove the heavy weaponry, so your ship will only shoot 1 shot per turn.
If you decide to move, the enemy’s radar will not mark that it moved for a few turns. If the enemy’s radar is jammed, or if the Engineer ships are down, it will take longer for the enemies to notice.
Engineers – They can screw the enemy’s radar.
Firepower – 2 shots/day. Ship Length – Medium (4 blocks)
The masters in fixing and screwing things. Engineer ships have medium firepower, but can unleash a jamming signal that will screw around the enemy’s screen, giving wrong information on your whereabouts if they have blew up a piece of a friendly ship. This jamming signal can only be sent once every 2 turns.
Engineers also have a one-shot Provisions Pack that they can use on themselves, or another team member. This Provisions Pack will heal any and all damage caused to the ship. Remember, one use only!
Frigates – They have amazing firepower.
Firepower – One 2x2 wide shot/2 days. Ship Length – Large (5 blocks)
A large ship capable of mass destruction. Their heavy, tough weapons can plow through an armada with ease. Sadly, these weapons are slow to recharge and cost a fortune, so when firing, only one ship can fire at a time. So if you plan to fire, make sure to have an agreement with your teammate first. After firing, the ship must cool down and reload ammo, so it will have to wait 2 days to pass. Their enormous ship may resist more, but it is also easily spotted. Frigates can also fire a single use, stage-wide torpedo that will damage any ship it encounters in its coast to coast voyage, that is, until it hits enemy ships 5 times (including previously sunken ships)
(Yes, I blatantly stole ships from other games. I can't draw ships well. )
After every player has made their move, a "day" has passed. Of course, with large ships, comes large gameboards. Each one for each team.
So signups start now. Any questions? Feel free to ask. Want to be in a specific team? Go ahead and say. Specific ship? No can do.
Signup deadline? January 27th 2010
Of course, there will be a moderator who will send Ship Role PM's, movement aftermath PM's, and will post what happens, what ships went down, etc. etc. That moderator will be me, due to this being the first time playing this in here.
