I'm starting to get the feeling they're trying too hard to make it like Sonic 1 and will end up making it nothing more than a graphical upgrade with homing attack thrown in.

To be honest, that's exactly what some fans want.
Some people won't be happy until Sega erase their memory of Sonic 2 and release that again.

I think Sonic 4's shaping up to look like a fun game. At this point I am not prepared to offer cloying superlatives or horrifying condemnation.
However, I would have loved to have seen a Sonic fan community on the internet in the early nineties.
I wonder how many threads and how much page space would have been devoted to the OUTRAGE of:
Sonic & Knuckles being "just an expansion pack" of Sonic 3.
Sonic 3 having "all those new shields and moves and things, not like the first two games at all".
Sonic 2 having "that lame new character, Tails or whatever" and Emerald Hill being "a total ripoff of Green Hill".
Sonic 1 being "way too fast, not like a proper platform game at all, man this game is going to suck".
Seriously, has anyone ever considered what a ninjaing bizarre fanbase this actually is?

In my opinion, and i'm pretty sure you'll agree, I think that the older games set the standard, and as good as they made the newer games, they still can't hold a candle to the originals.
Although, I hope Sonic 4 don't rely entirely on recycled bosses. I hope they make a couple of new ones, or at least update and advance the look and attack pattern of an old one.

No, everyone is thinking back tot he glory days when they were amazed by this new phenomenon of Sonic. People aren't feeling the same surprise, not as much excitement. If I say I get bored of the old Sonic games easily, I'm sure plenty would tear me apart, but the game was revolutionary at the time, how do you go beyond that now? Sonic 4 is shaping up well, it's gonna be lots of fun, but for its own reasons as well as the slight throwback to the past. |

Also, I was just thinking, seeing how there's usually some different badniks appearing in each zone, it doesn't look like there are really much badniks being announced. Unless they announce more in the other episodes, of course. |
