After being inspired by some absolutely amazing texture hacks, I decided to try it for myself. Here's what I've made...
Palm Tree Panic Zone (Green Hill edit)
This is my first attempt at editing stage textures. I'm not too fond of the 'Goal' post, but I love everything else. It's fun to play on. Everything is so vivid.
Oh, and there's my try of a Sonic CD/Sonic 1 styled Sonic.
It's simple, really. There's a few graphical blips, like the indention in the shoes and a strange pinkish film over the eyelids, but otherwise it's alright.
And here's my first texture hack, evar.
"Streak Sonic"
Yes, I know, making KIPPERS 'dark and edgy' is lame. I mainly wanted to experiment with streaks to locate where exactly the texture appear when placed over the model. It took several tries to get it right because the texture of Sonic's head is spread out in a star shape. But trial and error eventually got them in the right place.
So what do you guys think of all this? I know they are nothing like what is seen in the videos at the beginning of this post, but I'm still only a beginner at texture hacking...
I am trying to improve though, so any ideas for future textures would be great. I was thinking about giving R.O.B. an E-102 Gamma texture.
Also, if you would like the download link for any of my textures, just ask. You must have the Homebrew channel and an SD card, though. I'll supply the other necessary files for you.
