So, James Cameron's Avatar. Yea or Nay?
I saw it the other day in 3D and I thought it was pretty good. The story was okay (Albeit the premise was a little unoriginal) and it was visually impressive. There seems to be a division among people, half love the film and half hate it.
Discuss.

I haven't seen it, but I do have the game.
The game has a very annoying glitch however that's putting me off from playing it. Ever since I first entered the Blue Lagoon (first mission), everyone's dialogue keeps skipping. I'll hear the first letter than the whole conversation is skipped and i'm given my next objective.

I describe it, quite simply, as scenery porn. If you don't care about the absolutely breathtaking graphics, there's not much left except Pocahontas with aliens. This notwithstanding, I enjoyed watching it as well as Cameron's good grasp of astrophysics and geology (magic floating mountains aside)

I'm not planning on ever seeing it.
If I wanted a CGI boner, I'd watch the Star Wars prequel and go "hurp durr no plot but awesome CGI =D"
I can do that from the comfort of my own home.

Saw it once in a regular theater and thought it was pretty cool, and then later I saw it again in IMAX 3D. It was pretty much the same both times.

I can imagine it being somewhat lesser in 2D. It seems to be the sort of film that would be okay in 2D, but in 3D it really feels like you've been to another planet.
Plus, without going into too much detail, it represents a huge breakthrough in 3D, and was in fact shot with the primary intention of being viewed in 3D.

According to source, I hear it's like a fancy looking version of Small Soldiers.

According to source, I hear it's like a not-a-cartoon version of Fern Gully. Fixed that for ya. They have literally the same plot.
