I would imagine it was a once-off game, but if it is to become a series, I'd buy it.

I guess one-off games with sequels become classified as a spin-off series. Rayman Raving Rabbids may've started as a one-off idea, for example. You know we're talking about Blazblue and Guilty Gear right? >spin-off series

I wasn't aware there was to be a BlazBlue 2. Well, It's gonna be called Blazblue: Continuum Shift. New characters and things or something. I'm sure I'd find it fun if I had it. It kinda lost its sparkle to me. GG is tried and true. *hugs GG*

Not as much as a sequel as it is an update.

Do you remember SUPER Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Mega Championship Edition? That was that one slightly based on SF2 wasn't it? There are SIX versions of SF2. Street Fighter II — The World Warrior Street Fighter II′ - Champion Edition Street Fighter II′ - Hyper Fighting Super Street Fighter II — The New Challengers Super Street Fighter II Turbo Hyper Street Fighter II and FIVE versions of GGXX Guilty Gear XX Guilty Gear XX #Reload Guilty Gear XX Slash Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Guilty Gear XX Λ Core Plus Pretty sure this "Blazblue 2" is just adding a couple characters or something. Not a new game entirely.

Proooobably.
But remember that Slash, ^C and ^C+ alll added new story arcs/continued the story. Continuum Shift may do so too.
