Shiver and Adram are along the right lines. Tempted to give it to Adram, because what's actually wrong is a bit fiddly and in retrospect is one of the things one can do wrong in a tech-hoax.

Answer:
You come into the screen from the left. Those piano things bounce you about a lot. I can't remember if there are rings in that particular place but even if there were, it'd be rather difficult to get to where Cream is stood without collecting them. I took them from the other side and moved them over.
