Yes I still make music. I just don't release it here first.

So, I bring you upto date with:

Aerials (Demo 090419a)
An instrumental cover of the SOAD song. A few issues with some sections being in the wrong key, but it still works out pretty well in my opinion. May get finished in the future, but it's not a priority.
A "Demo 090419b" exists, but not much differs.

UNTITLED "09"
Another instrumental. No actual title on this, but at the time, the name of the file was "09", so I just went with that. My main goal in making it was to try and merge Rock and Trance/Techno together. First time in trying, but I gave it my all. Was going to be the backing to a track on the album, but it didn't work out that too well.
(random fact: it's in the key of G Major, so I managed to improv the whole synth solo)

I am very much aware that in both of these, the bass has been turned up really high; I created these from the console itself (so no skipping) and through the TV - which, due to it being a slightly old TV/VHS combo, only has one speaker. I tried mastering it a little, but this was as best as I was able to get it. I've been considering getting a new TV (one with AV) with two speakers so this issue wouldn't arise.
And yes, the guitars are sampled. Music 2000 doesn't have very good guitar samples, especially the electric ones. I'm working within the confines of a 9-year-old PlayStation game.

Onto news about the album /0, that thing that was annouced back in... July 07 was it? Well, I've decided it's going under a... "reboot" would be the wrong word, but let's use it.

/0 will most likely be released in three "editions".

First one will simply be "/0 Part 1", which will be an EP containing 6 of the 12 planned tracks. (£3/copy)
Once that's released, I'll then get to work on the remaining six tracks and once they're finished, all 12 tracks will be put on the full "/0" album, which'll be at £5/copy. Those 6 tracks will also be put on its own EP, cleverly titled "/0 Part 2", again for £3/copy.

I'm going to put an estimated release date of JUNE/JULY 2009 for /0 Part 1 and with releasing /0 and /0 Part 2 simultaneously, those two I'm putting an estimated release date of SPRING 2011.

In short:

/0 Part 1 EP -- 07/2009 -- £3.00
/0 Part 2 EP -- 02/2011 -- £3.00
/0 LP           -- 02/2011 -- £5.00

Note: Anything released before Through The Fire and The Flames ~HARDCORE REMIX~ won't be in this thread. With most of the stuff before that track, that's a good thing (hell, even I think I could've done a lot better with The Acoustic EP)

It's not really a cover if you synthesised it and didn't actuallyplay it....


It's kind of awkward to define a cover in that context.


I suppose you should actually improve your ear training. You need a good ear to decipher these thigns and make you own take of it.

It's fine doing your own version of it. But it hardly sounds that brilliant. There's no definition between the notes and bass line. It needs a stronger definition between each motif played.

Like where the bit where it gets to the chorus (Life is a waterfall etc etc), you can hardly tell if there's somewhere that you're trying to get with it. It just sounds like a messy note played repeatedly.

In a sense of a cover, I don't think it passes well. Hopefully your original piece does better.


The other song:

I see what you mean about the heavy bass. It's so heavy I can't really hear what the higher bits/other bits are even doing. I just hear loud drum and.... bass.... and stuff.



Any musical composition needs balance between all instruments, it's one of those things I get picky about, but you should work on it some.

Sounds like videogame music though. Well done.
