Hey guys...I'm working on a story...and I SERIOUSLY need motivation.
First, I'll give the General Storyline...
Felicity Burnham is an average girl, living in Calendula...Or is she really? Her life is turned upside down when she has a dream one night about a mysterious man. Little to her, this man is Mariliss'tenu Bion, an shaman, and he's cursed to be her cat for the time being. Martian is looking for a way to free himself from the curse that he was put under by a Tieblood. The Tiebloods and the Araos are two alien races at war with one another. Both had come to this planet for different reasons. Will their wars destroy the earth or will someone bring peace?
Felicity is an arrogant, overly-skeptical, self-important magician who dreams of owning her own Library someday. She has no time for "stupid magic tricks" and the like...But when Rosetta came looking for her at her workplace (and, got her fired...) her own magic had awakened.
Basically, it's a Fantasy/Sci-fi story with a little bit of everything thrown in. It has your standard fantasy Tolkien-like races, (Elves, Gnomes, Dwarves, Goblins, Trolls, ect.), a few out of the ordinary races (like Shifters, humans with animal-like traits), along with the two new ones I created.
The two alien races are the Araos (Taller than humans, slight blue tint to their skin, somewhat elf-like, resistant to the cold, based off the Aasimar from Dungeons and Dragons) and the Tiebloods (Same size as humans, goat-humanoid-like, usually are slightly tanned, resistant to fire, and based of the Tieflings from Dungeons and Dragons)
There we go...Plot's been changed around a bit...
Here are the Main Characters -
Felicity Burnham - (Human. Age 24) The main Character. See above. The story is told through her POV.
Mariliss'tenu "Martian" (As Rosetta dubbed him) Bion - (Araos. Age 26) An Araos Shaman sent to make peace with the mayor of Calendula, he was turned into a cat, and is now searching for a way to return to his not-so-human form.
Rosetta "Rose" Thornharte - (Elf. Age 16) Though only 16, this young elf dreams of becoming a druid like her older brother. A bubbly and optimistic girl, she always tries to keep everyone's spirits high.
Raya Kaylit - (Shifter. Age 36) A fox-like humanoid who runs "The Kitsune's Muse" a small restaurant on the other side of town that rivals Aradia's tavern. She strongly dislikes Aradia, and is quite suspicious of her.
Dagon Cotterpin - (Gnome. Age 35) An eccentric gnome engineer and a slight pervert. Although he has his heart in the right place. He's close friends with his mentor, Kilian. He's a gunner and a master at stealth.
Killian Ironflask - (Dwarf. Age 45) For a dwarf, he seems to have a lot of common sense. Tactful, but cold. He has a general understanding of people. He "babysits" his student, Dagon and tries to keep him from pulling off stupid stunts. He wants to find a wife someday.
Aradia Ashteroth (Tieblood, age 21) - Aradia came to this planet to escape the war between her people and the Araos. She blames the Araos for everything that happened. She runs a Tavern called Corculum Aradia. She despises bigotry with a flaming passion, and those who tick her off might get something slipped into their drink. She's quite skilled in Alchemy.
And, here's the first Chapter, also.
Color of Your Heart

Chapter 1: Strangeness.
I dreamt of snow.
Not your average first-snow-of-the-season snow. But rather, a blizzard. I was walking through a blizzard, following a voice.
“Help me…Help me…”
A figure was in the distance…I couldn’t make out whether it was male or female…Yet the voice sounded quite masculine.
I followed the voice as it kept calling out to me.
“Please…I need someone to help me…This curse is taking over.”
I kept trying to find the figure, but by the time the voice got closer…The figure disappeared and I woke up.
Weeks passed…And that dream lingered in my thoughts. The most vivid dream I’ve had in years, in fact, the only dream I can remember. Yet, I merely brushed it off as the aftereffect of rancid chicken. Although I never had a vivid dream since then…Strange things began to happen to me.
One day, when I was trying to reach my library books from the top shelf, they somehow flew into my hands without any force acting upon them. I started to understand what animals were thinking…And I could even see colorations that people call “auras” around people if I concentrated hard enough. Though I brushed it all off as just coincidences.
Other than that…Life was normal in the lazy town of Calendula for me, Miss Felicity Burnham. I had moved to Calendula five years ago, leaving behind the farmlands I used to call home. Honestly, I wanted more out of life than smelling horse excrement all day and spending countless back-breaking hours in the sun picking crops. No. I wanted…No, still want knowledge. My dream is to become the owner of a respected and well known library. I have no time for such silly beliefs in “spirits” and superstition when there are more fascinating topics out there such as how to control the weather or why the government works the way it does. Fantasy is a waste of time. There is no such thing as magic…Yet everyone around me insisted that it did. So I left. I thought Calendula would be a better environment for me. And yet…I think I was about to be proven wrong on so many levels.
When I picked up the paper this morning, the headline on the front page was “Alien Race is Rumored to Have Landed in the Forests”, the rest was about a sleeping sickness and about this Vivianna Three-eyes person. The only thing interesting in the paper was the Want-ads. After lunch while I was taking a walk to the Library, saw a bunch of people gathering at the Plaza as some old lady was rambling on about the "War between two alien nations on our own planet" and something about a cat. The crowd was practically mesmerized by her words, it was completely ridiculous. Not wanting to be a part of the madness, I quickly hurried to the library when I saw a little girl with long pointed ears run out in front of me chasing a small gray cat.
“Martin! Come back! What is it?” the girl shouted as the cat ran up to me. The child stopped and looked up at me…Up close she looked a bit older, like a woman her mid-teens, although she was short for her age.
“Martin likes you, miss.” she informed me.
“Martin?”
“My cat. Isn’t he cute? He’s been telling me he wanted to meet the one he saw in his visions! She’s got brown hair and brown eyes and is a haughty woman, but she has a heart of gold.”
I backed away slightly from the little girl as she informed me of what the cat had been “telling her”. Insanity seemed to be spreading, and I feel very sorry for her cat right now.
“Will you take him in? Momma is allergic to cats anyway.” She offered.
“Um…” I looked down at the cat who had rubbed against my skirt, purring softly. How could I refuse? I love cats!
“Sure. Martin’s his name, then?”
“Yeah! Have fun, Miss!” the strange girl with pointed ears bade me farewell as she bounded away leaving me with the small gray cat. I picked up the bundle of fluff and remarked.
“Well Martin. You’re probably the only sane one left in this town besides me. We need to stick together, yes?”
The cat just gave me a blank look and mewed in confusion. Great. Now I’m talking to a cat. I think I’M starting to go insane.
I walked home with my new furry companion and offered him a bit of tuna and some milk, however, the only thing I could get him to eat was a bowl of Beef Stew which was supposed to last 5 days.
“My, you’re a picky one, aren’t you?” I remarked to my new roommate before heading to bed.
For the first time in weeks. I had another dream. It was almost the same dream. Except…I saw a man.
“Help me…Help me…”
Dashing towards the direction of the voice, I wanted to find the speaker. In this dream, I saw his silhouette on the horizon…I ran towards it and saw the details in his face.
When I caught up to him, I looked up at the mystery man. He was quite tall, I’d estimate around 6 and a half feet or so. His skin was a pristine bluish tint, and his ears were pointed like the little girl’s ears were, only a couple inches longer. His eyes were a deep sapphire blue and his hair was silvery. The expression painted on his face was but a grim and pleading one as he looked down onto my short, 5’1” body.
“Please…You must let me take shelter here…” he begged me. Though I barely knew him, I questioned his sanity. How would we take shelter in a blizzard, I wonder?
“How? This is a blizzard, nobody’s around for miles.” I told him, but he continued to give me that pitiful glance.
“In your dreams, in your home…Please, let me take shelter here.”
Unsure how to respond, I slowly nodded at the man who’s sanity I questioned on the spot.
“Al…Alright…Sir…You may take shelter here.” I replied.
The man’s smiled and pulled me into a hug and responded with a mere “Thank you.”
With that, I woke up with Martian sleeping soundly at the foot of my bed.
Somehow…When I looked at my cat…I felt as though all my worries had vanished.
