It's nice to know that people are talking about my little project!

By the end of the month a new Beta will probably be released. Check the snapshots of the new version anda a some other pictures of the fight between the Obama and McCain characters made inside the game.
Just ask and i'll do my best to answer any doubts you may have about the engine.

Are we only limited to flash based characters, or can we make sprite based ones too? I saw a chibi ryu fight video but no accompanying info.

You will be able to use sprite-sheet based characters. However you will need to create a flash file in order to set what sprite corresponds to what move, etc..
The next release won't be so extensive on this type of characters but rather focused on the easily made ShortFuse characters like McCain, Obama and anything else that can be donde with a simple photo of a person. However, once I finish developing rumblah.com there will be tutorials available to learn to create fully original characters with flash, either animating them in the flash interface or importing a sprite-sheet and moving it around to make the animation.
