D00D64’s Sonic Comic Character Guide
Okay, there are WAY too many Sonic comics out there. And too many of them follow the same pattern of characters with Sonic being the stupid one or making Rouge the slut or sex machine. THIS ENDS TODAY. Okay, maybe not, but hey, someone has to do SOMETHING…
WHAT U NEED
Simply, what every Sonic comic has in terms of character “Types.” Here are some very useful ones. You don’t need them all, but the most important ones are marked with a *. Characters compatible easily with the category are marked beside it. Semi compatibles will be in “().” These don’t fit in too well, but can work kinda. Characters in no particular order.

IN-DEPTH Character Guide
Now you know what basic types make the building blocks of pretty much every comic, Lets know a little more about the characters themselves.
Sonic- It’s probably now a Sonic comic without him! While there are FEW exceptions, Sonic is in all comics with “Sonic” in the title, relating to the speed demon. He has a very laidback personality, but has a sense of justice of sorts (Not that strong of the typical super hero, but…). He usually won’t take things lying down. Always feeling the need to do things for others in times of need. However, he still has a cocky attitude too. He can get on people’s nerves. Totally loyal though.
Tails- the very definition of “Sidekick,” while still being capable of his one ventures, Tails is practically glued to the blue blur. Always willing to do whatever it takes for others, he pushes himself past his limits. Highly intelligent, but still a child; Easily exploited material for comics. Take advantage!
Knux- Constantly doped in the old days, he comes off as stupid to some. Although a stereotypical roll for him, he fits in the “Stupid” roll nicely. Doesn’t mean he can’t do anything else though. He has a high temper too, and he isn’t as stupid as he used to seem in the old days. He can also be a rival of sorts to Sonic. Lots of possibilities for this guy.
Amy Rose- Your typical old fashioned girl. You know, back in the days where woman were almost defenseless, unlike now where, they are equal to us in most categories. She’s not defenseless however, but can still be used that way. She can be both classical AND modern. She’s obsessed with Sonic, but can accidentally mistake others. She’s also a bit young, so you can play on that. A very versatile character!
Cream- She practically oozes politeness and sweetness. She’s just too darn innocent! But the quiet ones always look suspicious… Oh, and she has a pet chao too. Not much to say for that, though.
Blaze- Very perplexing. She can be used under a serious role, or a more laid back one. A loner or a member of a group. A leader or a partner. She had a personality change through her first adventure, giving her two personalities to work with. Can definitely play a lead role as well as a secondary role. Don’t waste her either.
Shadow- More exploited for his seriousness; That seems to be his primary focus, and is not a bad one. Very emo sadly. Dark themes tend to linger on this guy. This guy can be played well without these, however. He definitely looks like his personality could snap at any moment. Try to steer clear of him though, unless he has a small role. His storylines are conflicting enough.
Espio- HE IS A FREAKING NINJA. ‘Nuff said.
Vector- FIND THAH COMPUTAH ROOM! If you’re going to play him in a funny role, he MUST use a computer room joke. It’s a rule. Yes, it is overused, but It’s his signature of sorts. He’s a lot more versatile then he looks. He’s tough, laidback, but silly.
Charmy Bee- ANNOYANCE.
Marine- Slightly more mysterious, 100% chao free version of Cream.
Rouge- Often used for the fact that she has boobs; she is overlooked in everything else. She’s a sneaky little bitch, and we all know she has been known to have connections with Knux. Still, you can’t help but use her “hotness,” even though she’s a furry.
Omega- Insane killing machine. Done.
Gamma- Dead, and never coming back. The robot with a soul.
Chaos Gamma- Omega in Gamma’s body.
Metal Sonic- Far more serious Sonic. True rival to him too. He’s a robot capable of personality, so he’s a blank slate. He has had some serious moments like in heroes, and has gone insane before. Thank Squidgy for this underlined part.
Tails Doll- Professional Soul Stealer. Can also be used in roles that require “Weird” people.
Metal Knux- robot with little known personality based of Knux. Blank slate, mostly.
Big- …Do I REALLY need to explain this guy?
Eggman- A smart guy, but can be foolish. He is also very versatile, capable of being a serious evildoer, but also a silly one. Just LOOK at him! He has comic relief written all over his insanely large ass!
Eggman Nega- Super serious and super polite version of Eggman. Not much else. He can’t play the silly role. Can take more drastic roles.
Chaos- Minimal emotion. He DOES evil, but doesn’t seem that way… I can’t say much about him.
Tikal- Not much known about her. She is mysterious, and seems to fit well in a serious role. She is a mostly empty canvas.
Black Doom- EFFED UP IN THE HEAD. Seriously, why does he let his minions attack Shadow when he is one of them? He looks EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVIL, but he looks like he can make some really poor decisions.
Fang/Nack- A treasure hunter like Rouge, but silly and goofs up. He seems like a stereotypical aussie or old spaghetti westerner, but try not to use him that way. He’s actually quite blank.
Honey- I don’t know too much about her, but judging by her human counterpart, she seems like an old fashioned type girl, similar to Amy. Capable of both classic and modern woman styles. But she’s a fighter through and through, so don’t forget that important detail!
Mighty/Ray/Tiara/Heavy/Bomb/Bean/Bark- Blank slates. Go wild!
EDIT: Emerl/Gmel- Before battle, Emerl was a 100% blank Slate. After, he's a younger Sonic in a robot body.
...That's it.
Maria- Shadow's key to fame, and only reason to live (Or reason to die). She's dead. She cares for all living things, and is quite sweet and innocent. A prime target for bullets!
