Because, the second one was made using the smudge tool, which warps the image to whichever side you choose. I like it  |

Well seems as the third is a fusion of both the first and second, and animated, i'd say that one.
If you made the animation a little quicker, that would make a good screamer =p

I think the top one is more sinister. The second is just smudged, the third has too much contrast between the frames.

Heh, I would say the first one. That one is cool-looking. The second one is alright, but just looks blurred and not as cool. The third would be better if you sped it up.
Offtopic, because I want to: I don't use photoshop, I use GIMP. I made my siggy in GIMP from scratch. Well, if you don't count the pasted Doomguy.
