IMHO, I think that eco was just trying to be nice, and share what he found, he didn't know that there was a backdoor, because not everyone gets it. Kcan, you should've gotten yourself a antivirus to replace the one that expired; it's not that hard to search on google. Eco, try to be safer around download links, because this could happen again.

UPDATE the virus kcan got was Backdoor Beasty, which is low threat and has the following effects. When Backdoor.Beasty is executed, it reads the configuration data from itself and may perform some of the following actions: 1. Terminates several security products and system monitor tools. 2. Copies itself to the %System% folder as Csvc.com. NOTE: %System% is a variable. The Trojan locates the System folder and copies itself to that location. By default, the location is C:\Windows\System (Windows 95/98/Me), C:\Winnt\System32 (Windows NT/2000), or C:\Windows\System32 (Windows XP). 3. Creates the registry key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Components\{AP042907-B967-10D8-9CBD-2672810A369E} and adds the value: StubPath %system%\Com\csvc.com to this registry key. This causes the Trojan to execute every time Windows starts. 4. Inserts the file, Lg.ttl, into the %System% folder. 5. Adds the value: NeverShowExt to the registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile As a result, the extension of the *.exe files are never displayed. 6. Modifies the default value of the following registry key: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\exefile\shell\open\command This causes the Trojan to execute every time a .exe file is executed. 7. Logs the keyboard events. 8. Notifies the hacker through ICQ. 9. I didnt know it was a hack. I thought it was safe. And besides. It probably wouldnt affect me because I have adaware, Norton Antivirus, and Spybot S&D

Alright then. Then it was all just a horrible mistake by an Eco who wasn't being careful enough with his links and a Kcan who believed he'd been set up.

true matt, but nowhere on the effects list on that virus does it say "Wipes out a ton of your files" or something similar. kcans story of his files beeing wiped doesnt add up.  |

wow. Seems Eco was truly innocent, and kcan was a lying selfish bastard! Guess he goes down as the first person to ever be banned from SV!  And star, he was a Noob, he was a flamer, he was a crappy hoaxer, crappy spriter, and personaly im GLAD this is the result. Eco has become not a spammer at all, so this board is now totaly clean from parasites! now time to go clean the filth! Ps, request granted lil dude.
