Wellp. London, KIPPERS may hit the fan. Here I am, places nearby are rioting. I would freak out because of the sirens... but there are always sirens around my area. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-14449675Police insufficient, rebellious youths breaking into homes, looting stores, arson; I'm not terribly amused, neither are my friends. I'm just wondering when it will directly reach me. Will keep you guys informed if anything does.

I heard about this through the Spriter's Resource forums, seems like things are getting pretty real over there.
How far are from you from the area, Tottenham I think it was?

Luckily I live some distance away from London.

It seems to be creeping to other areas now. Leeds had a bit of a hoodlum problem last night (someone got shot and a car was set ablaze), though thankfully not to the extent of London.
And, yeah, the police force are pretty useless right now, namely because they're not allowed to do anything.

All local shops have closed today, they predict a riot.

Where I live now, it's got pretty bad as well. I live in Nottingham now, where I was stranded at Market Square for about three quarters of an hour straight... while the rioting and combusting took place. I couldn't get any form of transport out for delay after delay.

I did the sane thing and stayed in. A few shady figures outside but nothing happened outside my house.
I think a few young'uns got a stern talking to by their parents last night, methinks.
Also glad to hear that the police were given the okay to use guns. Also glad to hear the PM say that (paraphrased) "if you're old enough to commit the crimes then you're old enough to get the full sentence".
Still, all keeping calm and what not here in Britland.

Hawhaw XD
Seems like the community where I live is tight enough not to go batsh*t, although I'm sure a fair few have gone to other places to cause problems. Ealing is not far from here at all.

Well, 2 people got murdered at the local station 10 minutes way from me... But that kinda happens around here all the time anyway... So nothing major going on here after all.

Great, now I have that 'let's start a riot' song stuck in my head.

So a while back some Malaysian student got mugged during the riots. Some dude punched him in the jaw (knocking him to the ground), and then two other guys ran over to help him up...rooting through his backpack in the process, and stealing his PSP.
HAPPY ENDING. Sony saw the news and gave him a new PSP as well as a bunch of free PSP games for good measure.
JOKE ENDING. Unfortunately the PSP had melted.

I remember seeing that after I had read an article arguing the riots were purely political and because of political disenfranchisement by the economy etc. To which I thought "Unless there's a political message to looting a beat up student, you can't argue that not a single person was doing this because of opportunism.
