Earlier today I decided to watch the whole thing from the beginning to see what the fuss is about. (And I'd rather watch the entire thing so as to get an impression on as a whole)
7-and-a-half hours and 17 episodes later, I'm leaving #18 onwards for another time. There's like what, 26 episodes of this thing?

OK, finished watching s01e26. Thoughts on it as a whole?
It's certainly not atrocious, I'll grant it that. Some of the writing is pretty clever for a kid's show, possibly meant to be watched with parents so younger audiences enjoy some aspects, while older audiences pick up on more subtle references (I personally noticed quite a few references/similarities to much older programs - Parasprites are pretty much the same to Tribbles, the chase music being almost a direct rip of Yakety Sax, and I swear there was a reference to 2001: A Space Odyssey's "obelisk" in one later episode). The main characters are well thought out and all have varying personalities (and not all the same), and they all worked with and against each other perfectly, which is something that can't be said for a lot of shows nowadays.
If I had any criticisms for the writing, it would be that some of the plots did end up being reused in places (for example, I'm pretty sure I saw the "jealousy of another character" plotline in at least two episodes). Admittedly, the really big DUGONG-puns were, to put it politely, painful (Fillydelphia? Manehattan? Seriously?), but seeing as they were all supposed to be relevant, I'll let them slide... for now.
Regarding the musical numbers; I don't really 100% care for them; it almost felt like it was using up the 22 minutes of allocated programming time (in my opinion, Winter Wrap-Up and The Best Night Ever were the biggest culprits in this).
Overall, since I went in with an open mind (and chose to watch all the episodes so I'd be able to review it as a whole) the show's not all too bad; I thought it was pretty good. But to honest, chances are I won't be sticking around for Season 2. (though that said, I've already ended up watching Season 1, so I've gotten this far already)

So, that Discord guy (spoilers, by the way). He has a very sexy laugh. I always have loved a wacky villain, sort of like Eggman really. His voice compliments his design really well. I am MUCH looking forward to Saturday.

Season 2 Episode 1. IT IS INCREDIBLE.At first I was a bit worried because EVERYTHING was happening SO FAST. But then it got fantastic. As soon as they all stepped into the maze and the walls went up, I jumped. I wasn't expecting that.
Man, Discord trolling Fluttershy (or rather Fluttershy trolling Discord) was the BEST THING IN THE WORLD. And then FLUTTERBITCH. OH MAN!!!!
This is INCREDIBLE and I CANNOT WAIT for next week!!!!
