I didn't want to spoil the surprise and I wasn't sure of how much information would spoil it.  Let's just say it'll look like a normal Sonic 2 game to the unaware. Let's also say that rings are bad, but not in the way that you'd expect. |

No, they disabled it unfortunately.
Also, don't play as Sonic & Tails cause if Tails eats the rings, you gain the fat. And for the love of God don't let him get ring boxes.
If you haven't noticed already, ? boxes reset your obesity. Man, if we had that IRL...
