For those not in the know, the South Australian election was on the weekend.
Labor (the party that every Australian gamer's bestest ever friend, Micheal Atkinson belongs to) still won, but went from a massive majority to a tiny majority.
Mr. Atkinson himself went from having one of the safest seats in the state to... well, one that's still very safe, but only about as half as safe as it used to be.* About a quarter of the vote he lost instead went to Gamers4Croydon, the party set up to run in his electorate about the R18+ for games issue.
So, a win for Labor but clearly they needed to cut out some dead wood. Well, Atko it appears has all of a sudden decided that he needs to spend more time at his son's soccer games. This is, obviously, why he ran for four more years in Parliament. So he's going back to being just his local representative and quitting the Attorney-General's job.
Translation? Labor got scared, sick of this tool and his antics, and demoted him.
So he's out of the R18+ picture. Let's hope they pick someone sensible this time.

He went from 67.1% of the primary vote in his electorate in 2006 to 52.7% this time. That's a 14.4% drop.
After preferences from losing candidates are factored in, he went from 76% last time to 64.8% this time, an 11.2% drop.
Gamers4Croydon came 5th of the 7 candidates, beating two more-established political parties, with 3.7% of the vote.
