It's basically their emotional gauge that can be used on special emotional-powered based attacks (Special Points). It works like magic points or manna. Additionally, something I should note: everyone gets one attack per turn but if you do a team attack the characters that performed it are counted as taking a turn, so all the Asteroi have taken their turn.
