Welcome to Episode II of the always epic SV Jam! That's right, it's back, bolder than ever, and.......A LATE 80s POWER BALLAD! The backing track can be found at my Purevolume account, currently at the top of the list and available for download: www.purevolume.com/ShardNetThe key of the backing track is C Major. THE RULES: 1. Each person may submit up to 2 tracks to the jam. One track consists of a solo over the provided backing track. You can do one track, 2 back to back on the same instrument, or 2 different instruments. 2. Each person may opt in or out of the breakdown section of this jam, which will be arranged when all entries are received and finished. 3. Anyone can enter regardless of skill level or instrument. 4. If you are doing a drum part or a bass part, tell me, so I can edit out the drums or the bass for you. 5. All entries must be received by Sunday, August 23rd. I might extend that deadline, but for nw, try to stick to it. Enjoy.

I'd just like to point out that I'm in, and still lazily preparing.
And so are others, supposedly.

I should really learn to play a bass guitar.

Yeah so I'm in, and was going to play trombone, but that sucked. So I sang my part.

Well, if there's interest, then I'll extend the deadline. But if nobody does this one, and it goes down the road the last one did, there won't be another one after this.

You got any tips for good recording? I don't have a Preamp and I'm plugging straight into my Line In. I suppose cleaning up a mic recording would offer a better tone, huh?

It really depends. If you have an amp with quality speakers, and a nice mic, then yes. If you're using a lower quality amp and would be using a computer mic, then no. A line in is definitely a good way to do it. If you're talking about an acoustic ( I can't really tell ) then it's still the same story, it's dependent on the quality of the microphone.
tl;dr Computer mic = fail sound.
Are you plugging STRAIGHT into your line in, or are you plugging an amp into your line in? Basically, outline how you're getting from guitar to end result, including the program you're recording with.

Guitar (Neck pickup, clean tone for the most part)
Amp (Low gain, mid volume, scooped mid, raised low and high end)
Line In (On a PC)
Sounds terrible straight from the guitar.
I can get on AIM to send you my brief noodly crap practise.

Are you using a headphone output on the amp?

Sweet. I need the file without the track as well, though.

Are you using a headphone output on the amp? Yeah. And no, there aren't any other outputs either,

You'll have to pardon me for taking any more time. My fingers are in enough pain without playing the guitar, to be brutally honest. I'll PM you my practise thinger.
