The ending to Normal Mario made me smile.
Normal Mario 2 however keeps on crashing whenever I pick up THAT plant.

I still haven't figured out how to beat SPOILER super birdo END SPOILER myself either, sadly.  Oh by the way there are some extra parts in NMB2. If you wanna know, watch this: EDIT: Okay figured it out. Everything's a spoiler after this part. She shoots 3 times, then throws a bomb. Throw the bomb when she's about to shoot again. Repeat 2 times. Easy as that. |

I actually found the Mario Paint one by instinct (In Mario 2, I always grab that one so I could get a new hit point)
Things started going wrong in that part when there was a bunch of notes close. That's not right!
Then, the single noted cats...
Then the guitars...

wut. How could you not beat SPOILER in Normal SMB2?
*Spoiler begin.
It shoots, you jump, it aims for when you jumped so you don't jump, then you jump for the third one. It shoots something you can pick up, you throw it at it. It shoots the pickupable thing again so you get a second hit in. Repeat the first phase and there.

SMB2 now works for me. Completed the Mario Paint stage but keep dying on the DK stage so I might just ignore that one for now.
