You have to be able to do 100 in 4 minutes to get an apprentice black belt, which I have. Better get started then. *sigh* Now wait a second... I'm Blue belt, next one's Green Kyu 1, the exam will be next week, then 3 more months for Green Kyu 2, then 3 more months for Purple Kyu 1, then 3 more Purple 2, other 3 for Purple 3, that makes it 15 months. Then follows Brown Kyu 1, and then... um... Could someone remind me how many Kyu's does Brown Belt have?

I think it'd be fun to see who can complete this programme: hundredpushups.com/'Cause it's the summer holidays, more or less, and I need to do something that will prevent me from turning into a tub of lard from all the pizza and cola I will inevitably drink. Also I think this concept is hilarious for some reason. Uh....I already do that a lot at karate >>; You have to be able to do 100 in 4 minutes to get an apprentice black belt, which I have. Ah, good on you. And well you more or less asked for this: I used to be able to do something in the region of about 40 pushups (for reference I can now do 13, apparently) when I was about 14 - I actually did a fair bit of exercise back then, I played Rugby and did jujitsu since I was about 13. Then I had a massive growth spurt and basically almost passed out and felt extremely sick whenever doing any real exercise (no guesses as to what timeframe that happened in) so pretty much had to give up doing most sport-like activities. Now I'm trying to get into being more active since that doesn't seem to happen any more. Hurrah.

In mine it's about 3 or 4; brown, brown with white stripe, brown with two white stripes, brown with velvet red stripe...I can't really remember, it's been so long since I did karate. I can do a sweet kikomi.

I can do a sweet kikomi. Yeah, like Bishy said: requirements for stuff is different everywhere, and not every place even has the same stuff. The place I go to has even added two belts before apprentice black belt since I got mine. Also, during the 100-in-four-minutes thing, you can take breaks, and almost everyone does. Only for a few seconds, but yeah. Also, more recently we had to do 100 in 3.5 minutes, but that was also a while ago. The way they do it is you have a partner, and they put their fist on the ground--thumb pointing up--and your chin has to hit their fist for it to count. Except since I'm really tall and have long arms, they tell people to bend their thumbs a little for me so I wouldn't have to go down farther than everyone else. EDIT: No idea what a kikomi is, but I can do a jumping 540 roundhouse. I wish they had better names for stuff >>;

I wanna learn a defense art. *Studies Sol Badguy's move list* I used to do Tae Kwon-do for about 2 years, though that was 5 years ago. Then exams got in the way. Got as far as 4th Kup (sp?) though. (that's blue belt)

EDIT: No idea what a kikomi is Judging what Bish said, I think he meant a Yoko-geri kikomi or a Mai-geri kikomi or a Mawashi-geri kikomi. I choose to believe it's a Yoko/kikomi

Side thrust kick.
EDIT: In the club I was in, migeri was a normal front kick (chudan level with the balls of your feet), whilst miwarshigeri was a roundhouse kick (jodan level with the balls of your feet).

Shotokan, am I right? Also Zae: Learn Krav MagaIt's a killer martial art. I actually watched a documentary with that in it. It's intense. I don't think I'll be in many military situations soon however. But sure disarming people sounds fun.

I personally prefer eskrima. Mostly because krav maga involves beating the other person within an inch of their life, whereas eskrima is just about pinning them against the ground, weaponless and sobbing. With tiny sticks.
