I will just say the answer.
The Chao's emote ball would be invisible when seen through the hologram in the teleportation thing. (in the PC version at least. I don't know about other consoles)
Many other things become invisible as well like fruits, hats, and the glow around sonic while charging a lightspeed dash or rolling.

I tried to make the emote ball as if it had a transparent green layer on it but it isn't good.   An earlier hoax re-done. |

You guys fell for my decoy!
You can pick up objects during a light speed dash, since there is an attack button and an action button which acts the same outside the chao garden. I could give a video demonstration but I do not have a recording program.
You still have to find the real techie!
