I'll stick to winning at StepMania and Dwarf Fortress if it's all the same to you.
...Oh, this isn't the egocentrism topic? Fooled me, sorry.

This... looks awesome. In-game editor = instant plus in my eyes, and I'm not bad when it comes to racing. If it wasn't for the fact that my connection fails in anything multiplayer, I'd so take you guys down. (eventually ) note to self: download tomorrow at college.EDIT: I'm assuming it has an offline mode, right?

Since when was trackmania free? I have a slighter earlier game of Trackmania, which I paid for. Surely there must be a downgrade in this version somewhere to warrent it being free. EDIT: Dude, they're DEMO versions! (or at least UNITED is, not quite sure about NATIONS) focus.gamesplanet.com/game-trackmania-united-forever.htmlAnd I can assure you that Trackmania is an excellent game, with even better graphics. It's like, next-gen.

As far as I can tell, Trackmania United is the retail version. Nations is a free version of the game that also seems to serve as an add-on, as it's fully compatible with United. I'm so downloading Nations tomorrow. (Curse HughesNet and their download limit!)

Bishy, United Forever is a retail thing.
I already had United, so I could get the Forever sections as an add-on.
Nations however is a free version that uses the Stadium environment.

I had Nations Forever, but I thought it was awesome, and thus bought United Forever. Also because Stadium is one of the worst environments. I liek my James Bond car. XD EDIT: I'm assuming it has an offline mode, right? You'sa right.

Exactly how graphical is this game? I don't think my computer could keep up a decent framerate... Hell, it couldn't even Doom 3 without crashing on the SECOND FREAKING LEVEL.

That's why you can tone down the graphics, hell, if it runs slow, it even ASKS if it can downgrade the graphics for you. Force motion blur FTW though. XD

As for the graphics, here is what it boasts:
1) Really nifty motion blur. 2) Colour changing. 3) Realistic lighting effects. 4) Colour correction. 5) Antialiasing (duh). 6) Plus next-gen quality models and textures/shaders.
All of which can be toned down and still look pretty spiffy. It also has realistic water.
Also, I remember playing a custom map in UNITED, and it was a level that took advantage of some glitch to create a really trippy field of capsules, and then you landed inside of one by glitching through it and then got trapped.
And some people have done some sort of scripting on some levels to make certain things happen if you go down a certain road, such as triggering a flyby of the level.

Are there any mirrors for Nations? The connection at college is absolutely failing right now, and even though I've given my download manager free rein of my wireless, it's still running between 1 - 10 kbps at best. I can only hope that the connection improves and the download finishes (and that the server doesn't block my manager for some reason) before I have to pack up and go to C++ class. (I almost had it earlier but the connection pulled a "limited or no connectivity" on me.)EDIT: Nevermind. Finished with about 5 minutes to spare. EDIT2: 'Tis AWESOME. Editor = schweet, but simple mode's too simple and advanced mode could use a bit more description. Sadly the game crashed when I clicked on the custom skin option. Ah well. I have a DDS/TGA converter. I can GIMP myself up a skin. EDIT3: *looks at super complicated 2 megabyte PNG-converted texture* ... *wishes he had the UV map for reference*

Maybe we should get a track sharing thread going in here?
I'm sure Therio would love to practise at Incremus and FlightPath XDDDD
