Maybe later today if I get bored. I've been up all night, gimme a break.
Or at least a bed. =P

Nah, still not smooth enough for me, but better when it's smaller, will do I guess.

Believe me when I say I'm not entirely content with it either, but eh, I'm a bit nitpicky. So, about the message board banner...

It would look better without the faded sprite in the background. Apart from that, it's great.

I added that because it's in the present one. Here's the banner without it though: I think it looks a bit bland without the Estel sprite to be honest.

Um.. PNG transparency no work for IE. Try high quality GIF. Or you can try a non-s*tty broswer.

Um.. PNG transparency no work for IE. Try high quality GIF. That's because IE is terrible when it comes to PNG support. IE7, Firefox, and Opera all support it. Time to upgrade sonny. 256-color limit for transparent images is NO GOOD. Especially when anything with anti-aliasing gets a "halo" around it. For kicks, though, I took the banner and made a GIF out of it. This is what it came out like: And the PNG for quick reference: For those of you with decent browsers, you can make a comparison. The GIF is not too bad, but you'll notice there had to be dithering on the logo and that there is a black outline around the logo (this is less obvious on this blue page, but put it on a white background and see what I mean). There are also a few other minor places where things clash, such as above Estel's shoe (on the GIF there are three dark marks above it, no idea why), and the blue backdrop behind "[message board]" fades less smoothly due to the color limit. Compared to this, transparent PNG am superior, because it's 24-bit color (basically all you'll ever need and what most people work with) and alpha-channel transparency is massive win, because it doesn't produce any artifacts like the black "halo". It's like bitmap in quality, but much smaller and more flexible. Come on, folks. Go check my page in the hoaxes section. Two years ago, when Matt made that, I STILL loved PNG. =P This lesson in graphic design brought to you by Professor Guess_Who. Do not contradict him or his head will begin exPLOding. EDIT: Okay, I've found out what is causing the three stripes above Estel's shoe. It's the color limit. Here it is in the GIF, zoomed in to 300%. Note that it is a lighter (though still dark) blue above the stripes, and darker blue below the stripes. Instead of fading between blues like the PNG, it cuts off at a point and goes straight to the darker blues. Basically, rather than fading it is going straight from one color to the next. This can be seen on the other side of the image too. Yet another reason why PNG am superior!
