No, you will use that information to make a good forum. If you have already made a good forum, why would you need that advice to? Erm, WTF? He's saying when he makes a good forum, he'll use it. What're you on?

I think what he means is that if he were to already have a good forum, then he wouldn't need the advice, as the advice is to make a good forum.
However what Danju said was that once he had a good forum he'd use the advice which some-what contradicts what the advice, and all parsable logic, is used for.

Yeah this is good advice! I followed them and it made my forum pretty successful, although I followed the advice from another forum, but it's pretty much the same thing.
The only thing I disagree with is the banner thing. You can make a banner that looks good that is square.

If you'd actually look at the dates, you'll notice that Tene posted this 3 months prior to the SB post. You'll also note that Metallix specifically says that he didn't write it.
Please ask him to credit Tene for writing that, even if he doesn't claim that he did.

- Highly-contrasting eye-searing colours are not going to help. Tone them down. Drab colours may not be exciting, but they are comfortable.
I found a useful tool for those of us with no colour theory knowledge at all, with mind towards picking a not-horrifying colour scheme. websitetips.com/colortools/sitepro/If you're totally unsure of what colours go well together (e.g. you're colourblind and physically can't tell; you've been told your colour scheme is atrocious but you can't tell why), then use either a monochromatic or an analogic (base + neighbours) colour scheme. The others are best used by those of us who have semi-decent eye of what colours work well in what places. For text, make sure it's either the lightest of the five colours given on the right against the darkest, or vice-versa - the contrast in shade of the colour has to be high or it won't be readable. (If you're using a analogic-base+neighbours scheme, try not to make the background and text different colours - just different shades of the same colour.)

Adding useful, additional, and on-topic information to an existing sticky is... um... bad?

Nice find. I mean I'm usually okay when it comes to picking colour combinations (usually) - but yeah that site does seem to come up with some nice combinations. Also the complementary colours work really well so long as you've picked a not-eyeblindingly-bright base colour.

Adding useful, additional, and on-topic information to an existing sticky is... um... bad? In Soviet Russia... I found it good, could be put in the first post under the colour scheme bit.

I have useful information to add to this thread.
If you're making a forum, don't post it here ever.
