Does it make a difference? .com or .co.uk sites mean that they make money from it somehow, and so are less likely to be free.
Post Script: in fact, it makes no difference at all. As far as I know, apart from in the USA and the UK, there is no .co, just the country's code (.fr, .de, .nl etc.)

There is no existing free website provider for .com addresses. .tk is the best you can get. EDIT: I googled this obscenely thoroughly years past.

DotTK isn't a web host. It just gives a free, pathetic, crappy domain name.

It just gives a free, pathetic, crappy domain name. Surely that depends on the name you give it? It's not like an extension can be crappy.

All it does is change the name. I put my MySpace page which I never use onto it, thinking it would be my own site, not some sucky MySpace thing... The infernal sucky address? www.neotails8762.tk

It gives a lovely ad page when you put it in, which has a link that says "Click to continue to site.tk", it makes pop-ups appear randomly and it makes an ugly ad banner at the top of all of your pages. DotTK sucks.

Probably used the paid option. Man, did I regret my old site (which was ad-free) getting a .TK. people asked why ads were popping up at an ad-free site!
STABBITY DEATH DOT TK.

Heh. That's the risk you run with a free server. They don't get their money from you, so they have to get it from advertising.

Actually, I think you'll find most if not all countries have organizational codes before their TLD, Tene.
