No, it just didn't come from a word from the english language. Even though there is an english word similar to it (tenebrous), I have no idea what it means.
In summary:
It's a play-on-words
It derives from a word from a language from a country close to mine.
I am english.
These are clues previously given. Now, find an atlas and guess the right language. Then you'll nearly be there.
