2. Oh fine, I'll look it up on YT. Yay!!! Give it a chance - it does (and it will) grow on you. DON'T WATCH Friendship is Magic, part 1 (ep1); Friendship is Magic, part 2 (ep2); Call of the Cutie (ep12); The Show Stoppers (ep18); Owl's Well that Ends Well (ep24), cause they all SUCK. Winter Wrap Up (ep11); Sonic Rainboom (ep16) and Swarm of the Century (ep10) are my personal favourites. Bampersan.

A tad harsh, TW. There's clearly a fanbase out there, or else places like TSS wouldn't do so astonishingly good.
Unfortunately a crapton of Sonic fans do have all the wit, charm and self-possession of an Alsatian dog after a head-swap operation but what're you gonna do?
But whatever. Let's face it, the only thing that makes this site demonstrably a Sonic site any more is the hoax section. The reviews section and WCMOs are the other things and they're already more videogame-y anyway.
What I propose, then, is to expand the scope of the site a little.
Design wise, I'd get Photoshop in and re-do things properly, with hints of Sonic influence but not "A Sonic-Themed Design", get the idea. Content wise, I propose to keep the site as it is, but to expand the title page into a more generalised videogame blog, which could be contributed to by me and some others. You'd still be able to contribute Sonic hoaxes etc, but rather than being The Point Of The Site, it'd just be a post among others "Hey guys, there are some more Sonic hoaxes up, here are some highlights: <image> <image> <hyperlinks to pages of updated uploaders>" Which myself or other bloggers could then expand to other fandoms we're each interested in. Kinda halfway between Some Douchebag's Personal Blog No-One Cares About and Blog On Big Impersonal Game Site Lost Among 14,000,000 Others.
And you'd have the option of reading each person's posts separately or all together. And we'd keep WCMO of course.
So, tl;dr, a joint gaming blog with fan submission undertones for fandoms that interest the staff. Bigger than a personal blog, more interactive than a big gaming newsblog.

Can there be a cookery section?
Also sounds good. Make sure the site dons the blue and yellow.

Y'know, if you decide to expand the Hoax section, I get a feeling SV (or is it VGV now? =P) would get more traffic. I have a couple ideas kicking around, although I don't know if/when I'll be able to get around to them. F**king school...

Oh jeez, I leave SV for a couple of months and this happens.
Sorry about your loss Matt, though I am happy to see that you seem to be coping well. I wish you and your lady friend well.
As for the website, I wholeheartedly support your idea of turning this into a general video games website. I'm totally on board and would love to contribute stuff myself now that my Uni work is all finished and done with.

The site would definitely keep blue and yellow as big parts of the design, yeah. I'd keep the name Sonic Vegemite, too, if for no other reason than I can't be arsed changing the domain name. If any change was to be made to the name at all I'd probably just change to using the domain name directly.
OK, tell a lie, two other reasons. 1) I'd keep the current contents of the site online as part of the new site, so in a slow period of interblag tiem I could trawl through the archives and do some retrospectives. I may even reupload some of my faves from the old old site. 2) One of the fandom-interests I have and would probably spam on mainpage would be videogame musicses. Hence, Sonic Vegemite.
Additional. 1) One thing I'd have to code up for - comments on mainpage articles. 2) Mainpage articles, as befitting a multi-user site, would have different designs per contributor. 3) Googler's Corner, Hoaxes, WCMO, and whatever other fansubs we decide to admit, would be linked to when approved, via a mainpage post. The categories big enough for their own pages would be linked to on the sidebar, like now.

I think that would defeat the object of calling it a MIDI section.
